Recently, various recidents of Musashino, Tokyo, have started to report a number of accidents attributed to the enigmatic "Lil slugger" (Shonen Bat), right after the report of the first victim, the young up and coming animator Tsukiko Sagi. Detective Keiichi Ikari and his partner Mitsuhiro Maniwa take the case to bring Lil' Slugger to justice, and discover the paranoia tormenting the town, and their own lives.

Another masterpiece by Satoshi Kon! I love the surreal depiction of social/personal anxiety. The opening animation and music by Susumu Hirasawa are very addictive.
