Batman: A Death in the Family (1998)

The story starts with Batman relieving Todd of his duties as Robin, for Batman concluded he's emotionally unstable to continue his responsibilities. Todd went to the Middle East in hopes of finding his biological mother; but unfortunately, the Joker kidnapped and tortured him.
