Another entry in what's a (hopefully) dying fad, Fortnite, and most other Battle Royale offerings, have a gameplay loop that completely undermines the joys of a shooting game. Where traditional shooters are quick to get you into the action, BRs tend to drag for lengthy periods of time with no encounters. Often the best way to get ahead is to avoid conflict and gather gear. If and when you do make it to the top 5, you'll be pitted against opponents who can build towering skyscrapers within seconds to gain a situational advantage over you. Being a freemium game poised to exploit small children out of their parent's money, this is a hard pass for anyone with taste in gaming.
